1. Dictionaries, Thesauri, & Glossaries  Once you have found a word in a thesaurus, you must look it up in a dictionary to be sure of the nuance it conveys. You should also consult the American Heritage Dictionary of Contemporary American Usage (unfortunately, not yet available on line) in order to be sure you are using the word correctly (i.e., with the right preposition, or in the correct position in the sentence). The glossaries provide you with definitions of basic terms you will encounter in your art history classes. You should use these in addition to the glossary provided in your textbook. |
